The MCCM successfully completed another edition of the project for girls and teachers from all over Brazil!
In 2022, we conducted our 4th edition of the MCCM, entirely online, inspired by the expanded reach of the course across Brazil enabled by the activities we carried out during the pandemic period. This edition featured 150 girls from public and private schools and 41 monitors from different universities across the country, contributing to its success!
The girls conducted practical activities at home, attended lectures lovingly prepared by prominent women scientists in the fields of biological, physical, mathematical, computational, and chemical sciences, available on our webpage. They actively participated in weekly discussion circles, asking questions to the speakers and discovering that they, too, can become scientists! They were daily accompanied by our volunteer monitors through WhatsApp groups to answer questions, share their progress, receive information about virtual meetings, and received an impressive participation certificate at the end of the course!
The participating teachers were also involved, having the opportunity to share experiences, acquire new knowledge, and join the discussion circles with the girls to learn more about the guest scientists and the joys and challenges of their professions.
The MCCM team thanks all participants. It is always a wonderful experience to have curious, talented, and passionate girls and women in the scientific universe. We look forward to the next editions to further enhance our course and continue showing the world that working in science is possible for everyone!
